The Geist Greenway will be an approximately five mile pedestrian path, stretching north and south from 96th Street to 131st Street. A typical section of the trail will be 18-feet wide, allowing for two 7-foot pedestrian lanes and 2-foot shoulders.
The goal for this proposed Greenway is to increase connectivity for surrounding pedestrians and bicyclists in eastern Fishers, as well as provide for additional recreational opportunities within the community.
Hamilton County Commissioner Mark Heirbrandt announced the County’s new pedestrian bridge project for the Geist District that will involve restoring and relocating the historic Bell Ford Bridge that used to stand in Jackson County near Seymour, Indiana.
The pedestrian bridge will provide safe crossing over Fall Creek just west of Florida Road connecting the Geist Greenway to the County’s Geist Park. The County will seek funding support from the local MPO for the restoration project.
