Fishers Parks & Recreation is planning a prescribed fire on Wednesday, March 27 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve. The park will be closed during this time.
Prescribed fire is a land management tool used to enhance and maintain grassland habitats. Fire can be a very useful tool in controlling woody trees and shrubs, while enhancing the growth and biodiversity of prairie and grassland ecosystems. The Fishers Parks & Recreation Department is using this tool to increase the health and biodiversity of the property. Learn more about Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve.
