Fishers Parks & Recreation Welcomes New Assistant Director

Fishers Parks & Recreation is excited to welcome Marissa Deckert as the department's new Assistant Director! Marissa will manage internal administrative operations and lead key initiatives for the department.  


Born and raised in Southern California, Marissa is a new resident of Indiana after spending the last few years in the Pacific Northwest.


Marissa started her career in recreational programming for youth with Young Champions and successfully expanded cheerleading and dance programs by 80 locations throughout Southern California. In 2006, after 6 years in youth recreation, Marissa moved into venue management. She spent 10 years with the Anaheim Ducks, and oversaw event operations for the Honda Center venue. In 2015, Marissa accepted a role as Senior Director of Security and Guest Experience for the Rose Quarter Sports and Entertainment district, and moved to Portland, Oregon. She spent the last 3 years advancing security operations with the Portland Trail Blazers and led efforts to become the first sensory inclusive venue on the West Coast. She has been an integral part of thousands of successful events including NBA and NHL playoffs, a presidential campaign rally, and hundreds of major touring acts.


Marissa lives in Fishers with her husband, Justin, and unstoppable 4-year-old, Arthur. She is a proud mother and grandmother to 1-year-old, Eva, and her daughter, Ariana, is expecting her second baby in a few weeks.
