- Saturday, July 31st, 9:00am-12:00pm (CANCELLED)
Participants will be grouped with others of a similar age and be given access to robotics materials to build robots and to develop an understanding of STEM. High school students with robotics experience will instruct participants to inspire, spark interest and teach the principals of robotics. A tentative schedule is as follows:
- Basic building techniques
- Movement and power in a robot
- Programming and using sensors on a robot
- Mechanisms for better robots
- Robot competition
Demonstration of larger robots will be included.
This is an ideal, hands-on class for students who show an interest in technology and/or are very inquisitive and curious on how technology works. Participants with previous robotics experience will be grouped together and given a chance to learn at an accelerated rate. The class will utilize Vex IQ materials which are plastic, quick-connect parts and the same robotics materials used in many of the Fishers are schools for clubs and instruction. The only thing a participant needs to bring is a positive attitude and the willingness to work with others.

LEGO enthusiasts apply! This 6-week class meets one time each week at the Maker Playground labs to complete a series of LEGO hands-on and S.T.E.M based projects, bringing physical science to life. Each week participants will expand their knowledge of basic building components and combine them with applicable concepts in engineering, force and motion. This series helps participants grow their basic LEGO knowledge to apply problem solving skills in a real tangible way.
